Salary: £30,647 - £42,859 per annum, net (net = take home pay)

 

Location:  Various - all countries affected by current Ebola outbreak

OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering

 

JOB PURPOSE: Identify, evaluate and monitor the key business and health related risks in OGB’s Ebola Response Programme in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The post will ensure that all key risks are identified and documented and that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are drafted and adhered to. The postholder will carry out periodic reviews of SOPs, report the findings from these reviews to management and work with staff and management to resolve issues.

 

REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to: Humanitarian Director (as Chair of Ebola Risk Management Steering Group), and is task managed by the Country Director when in country locations.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and provide support to the  Country Directors and Organisational Lead for Ebola on risk management, systems and compliance.
  • Ensure that key business risks (including staff health) are identified, recorded and managed.
  • Work with the Staff Welfare Adviser to ensure that SOPs to mitigate identified risks are drafted, communicated, adhered to and updated where necessary.
  • Carry out compliance reviews of SOPs (relating to staff health, finance, logistics, donor contract management and HR) to ensure that they are adhered to. 
  • Report findings of compliance reviews to Ebola Programme Director and Ebola Risk Management Steering Group.
  • Work with staff and managers to identify and resolve risk and compliance issues. 

 

 

Skills and Competence

 

Essential:

  • Experience in managing risk within challenging and complex contexts
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and work to deadlines 
  • High level of attention to detail
  • High level of resilience and ability to influence
  • Ability to manage outside of specialisation
  • Good interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations
  • Good coaching skills and ability to develop others
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent written and spoken English

 Desirable:

  • Substantial experience in the NGO sector
  • Experience of operational auditing and risk management frameworks
  • Experience of working with donor agencies and knowledge of their reporting requirements
  • High level ability in the application of strategic HR Management
  • Knowledge of other languages, particularly French
